About the Team
We are Code Tiers. More formally, we are students from New York City that aspire to take on a career/major in the STEM field. As young students living in the growing world of technology, we were always curious about this field and in learning more about our computers, phones and everything else around us. However, there were many barriers that did not allow us to fully grasp an understanding of the STEM field. Through these experiences and research, we learned that the lack of education and resources for other students is detrimental to the young minds of our world! Here we are organizing workshops for our students to thrive today and in the future!
Co-Founders
Daffny Cardoso
Daffny Cardoso is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. She has been playing the violin since she was 7, and also participates in various sports such as volleyball. She enjoys writing articles for her school's newspaper. In school, Daffny was part of the software engineering sub-team in her school's robotics team for her freshman year and in the mechanical engineering sub-team in her sophomore year. She has been interested in the STEM field and hopes to become an aeronautical engineer in the future. She is excited in introducing youth to the STEM field!
Jialin Chen
Jialin Chen is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. She loves drawing, listening to music, and playing games in her free time. She is an art editor for her school’s student-led newspaper. She wants to pursue STEM in the future because math and computer science are her favorite subjects, and she is also a part of her school's robotics team. She has explored coding with programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++, which inspired her to introduce possibilities for others who may not be familiar with the world of coding. Following this goal, she is determined to empower others through Code Tiers.
Melinda Wang
Melinda Wang is a rising junior at Townsend Harris. As a business enthusiast, she has explored and worked for many different types of non-profit organizations. Her entrepreneurial mindset also contributes to her interest in STEM. Previously working with Java and Python, she has found computer science to be an interesting field that surrounds her daily life. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports and volunteering for her community. Overall, she looks forward to sharing Code Tiers to the community around her!

Esther Liu
Esther is a rising senior at Townsend Harris. She likes to do arts and crafts and watch dramas in her free time. She is very excited to work with everyone over the summer!
Annie Park
Annie Park is a rising junior residing in NYC. She has interdisciplinary interests and loves both computer science and STEM as well as the arts. In her free time, she likes to play the Sims 4 and go skateboarding.
Axyl Fredrick
Axyl Fredrick is a mentor for Code Tiers 2022. He is looking forward to a career in software engineering and computer science. He had experience with programming and has a ton of interest in it. He admires Code Tiers's initiative and wants to help out!
Rachel (Ray) Chan
Rachel, also known as Ray, is an incoming junior that also goes by all pronouns. In school, they enjoy STEM, being a part of the robotics team. They enjoy playing the piano as well as playing the guitar with friends. For coding experience, they are comfortable using Java and HTML & CSS but would love to learn other languages.
Saranika Chakraborty
Saranika is a rising sophomore at Brooklyn Technical High School. She is a singer and dancer and also loves to do art. She is someone who loves to code and wants to work in the field of mechatronics, nano-tech, or materials science. Saranika is very easy-going and friendly and she can’t wait to meet everyone.
Quinton Davis
Quinton Davis is a rising junior at BHSEC Queens. He has several years of coding experience in multiple languages, but he is most familiar with Python. In his free time Quinton loves to read, debate, and go rock climbing.
Srabon Nath
Srabon is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. He is very interested in the field of computer science and plans on studying it in college. In school, he is on the robotics team and he really enjoys being part of the team and has learned a great deal from it.
Vivian Chen
Vivian Chen is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. She enjoys arts and crafts, reading and playing certain video games. If you have any questions, feel free to message her on discord!
Zarah Masud
Zarah Masud is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. She has experience in STEM, being that she is on her school's robotics team and has taken the CAD course during her sophomore year! In her free time, she likes to dance.
Andrew Li
Andrew Li is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. He is in many clubs including the Robotics team. He loves playing Valorant in his free time.
Jennie Cheng
Jennie is a rising junior and uses she/her pronouns. She enjoys watching anime!
Andy Chen
Andy Chen is a rising Junior in Townsend Harris. He is one of the mentors at Code Tiers and a Steel Hawks Robotics member. He knows several coding languages such as Java, Python, and HTML/CSS. He is also familiar with CAD softwares such as Onshape and Solidworks. He is looking forward to meeting everyone!
Gurjot Gill
Gurjot Gill is currently a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. He has experience in various STEM fields, like CAD, and he is part of his school's robotics team. In his free time, he loves to listen to music and play video games. He is always open to questions and is available to talk!
Emily Francisco
Emily Francisco is a rising senior at Belmont Preparatory High School. She has experience in Python and HTML/CSS. She aspires to become a software engineer, since she enjoys math and solving problems with code. As well, she is passionate about breaking the gender bias in STEM fields by leading by example as a woman of color and hopes to help other young women of color discover and excel in the world of coding. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and baking.
Leo Zhang
Leo Zhang is a rising senior at Townsend Harris High School. He has taken AP Computer Science A in his junior year. He is on his school's robotics team.
Arfath Chowdury
Arfath is passionate about learning more about STEM and making STEM opportunities accessible to all! She knows HTML and CSS and hopes to use her computer science knowledge to improve daily life. In her free time, she likes playing card games, board games, watching cartoons, playing badminton and volunteering!
Samira Hasan
Samira Hasan is a rising junior at Bard Queens! She is a first generation Bangladeshi-American citizen, and extremely interested in Biomedical Engineering. She hopes to help inspire fellow students in their journey to discovering their passions through exposing the various careers and opportunities there are to offer in STEM.
Fabiha Khanam
Fabiha Khanam is an incoming sophomore and is really interested in tech and coding. She hopes that by volunteering she can gain experience in the tech field and help participants as well.
Alex Lin
Alex Lin is a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. His passion for coding has led him to learn various programming languages and more. He is on the programming division for the Steel Hawks robotics team in my school. He jumps at any opportunity to learn about coding, and hopes to pass his enthusiasm for coding to others.
Sylia Fella
Sylia Fella loves social activity and making people laugh. When she took my first coding class in my freshman year of high school, she knew coding would be something she would want to study in the longterm. The past semester she learned python and did many difficult projects. She thinks debugging can be frustrating, but says there is no greater feeling than getting code to work!
Shannon Jackman
Shannon Jackman is a rising junior. In her free time she likes to play guitar, listen to music, and hang out with friends.
Dabynn Yi
Dabynn Yi is currently a rising junior at Townsend Harris High School. She joined this program because of her interest in her schools robotics team, the Steel Hawks(2601).
Jie Xuan Tang
Jie Xuan Tang is a programmer of the Townsend Harris Steel Hawks. He is an outgoing person and loves to teach people who are interested in coding. He is also a very easygoing person, so learning with him will be a very different experience than learning in school.
